Kung Hei Fat Choi everyone!
So it is the year of the Water Dragon. It is supposedly a very promising year for a lot of people, as I’ve been hearing (and reading). In fact, to quote the Manila Bulletin’s piece:
“For those born in the Year of the Dragon, this year is the time to pursue and act on the impossible dream, change the world or at least your life. And for the other signs, it is the best chance to make your dreams come true. The dragon sign is associated with spring and the dragon water sign is likely to become a flowing river rather than a stagnant lake, which means that you need to begin 2012 off to a fast start as things are expected to happen early in the year. Hopefully we used some of the quiet time in the past year to plan your moves for 2012.”
My, I feel pressured. Haha! To think that I just wanted to go with the flow (in fact wasn’t that my New Year’s Resolution? Doesn’t it fit anyway, you know, flowing like water?) The superstitious side of me did take a peek at what the Water Dragon meant for my sign, the Snake. According to Tarot.com, this year provides a lot of opportunities for me and should be a lucky year. I honestly can’t imagine how much luckier I can get; I already feel that way about my girls (As cheesy as that may sound, but it’s true!). I won’t complain though, and whatever new luck comes my way, I will take it all with a gracious “Thank you!”
The prediction also says that the Water Dragon will force my sign (me) to become more intuitive about my decisions, going against its (my) deliberative nature. I must “strike with focus and precision“, it says (And on that note, I clicked the BUY NOW on the online shopping button! Heehee!). Suddenly my mind is racing with all the ideas that could potentially come to fruition. Hmmm… Maybe this year is the year to do that?
So in the spirit of the New Year, I decided that now would be a good time to effect a change on the My Mommyology Blog. I now have a logo! 🙂 My darling sister so generously gave her time to make it (Thank you Nang-Nang!). And here it is!
Here’s why I love it:
– Well my sister made it, that goes without saying.
– It aptly represents my two girls and myself, which is the central focus of this blog after all. It captures my girls’ current identities quite accurately, Sam reading a book and Jamie eating (not necessarily a cookie though, but that’s what you call creative license, haha!).
– It’s simple and clean, and it also epitomizes the essence of what this blog is all about. The play of colors is easy on the eyes too, and it’s just warm and fun to look at. It’s not too stiff and not too serious, but somehow it still is credible (or so I’d like to believe).
As we’ve tried to make logos for our various business clients and even for ourselves, no matter how clear the brief is, sometimes it is really hard to translate something into the perfect logo. In the end it is a judgement call and just a feel of what works for you. And in this case, I really do feel that it works for me! I have a good feeling about it, and I believe that it will bring good fortune to my blog (as they say back home, it is my Buena Mano, or “good hand” for the year).
She made a badge version too, which I can use for smaller spaces, like comments and like on the My Mommyology Facebook page. You’ll see it really really soon!
What do you think of my new logo? Feel free share your comments! 🙂
